About deviantwave

My namesake was a poetry, that was written at leisure and interpreted in haste. I was re-incarnated as the sea that inspired my namesake...

Purple Pact finally gets rolling …

So a lot many things had been going on in the back ground with regard to Purple Pact and I just did not have the time to blog about it. One thing is for sure, which the last week has made me realise – setting up an organisation which is connected with something you hold close gives you an amazing rush of energy. So while I suffered 108 hours of continuous Fibro pain, there was something in me that made me go all the way and ensure that in one week a lot of work has been done. Let’s keep this crisp and to the point 🙂

  • The FB group seems to be going great with support pouring in all over the world.
  • Purple Pact gets featured by the online women magazine B’khush and oh boy the response has been overwhelming!!!
  • Purple Pact is all set to be registered in 2 months (yayyyyy) and just a few documents need to be framed now with the entire structure sorted out
  • Response to internship for Purple Pact has been outstanding, to say less and the internships will be rolling in from April 2012 – do spread the word please. We are basically looking for people in the pharma or medico field – studying or working and ready to blog, help us out in the website stuff and all. Detailed list of activities is available over mail 🙂
  • The portal design is also under deliberation and am checking out a lot of samples – do let me know if any ideas 🙂

That is all that’s happened in a week, sorry if that seems less but I had a back-breaking week – literally. Will start blogging about the main issues soon. Till then please stick to the pact! 🙂

Just another WordPress site?

And the answer is a melange of “yes” and “no’!

For the yes’s it is indeed again one of those help attempts to the millions that exist. And ‘no’ cause this is the first time I am setting up one, and can vehemently say that it’s with a passion.

So what is this all about? Is it a self-help forum? Is it a medico repository? or is it a rant dashboard?

If you ask me, it’s none of the above and yet much more than the above. It’s about all those ailments that have the ‘purple’ tag. In case you do not know, purple is the color for chronic pain and this portal is an attempt to talk about all those ailments which in India are still attributed to psycho-somatic disorders.

Chronic pain is pain (an unpleasant sense of discomfort) that persists or progresses over a long period of time. In contrast to acute pain that arises suddenly in response to a specific injury and is usually treatable, chronic pain persists over time and is often resistant to medical treatments. Also, it might be an onset of diseases like Fibromyalgia, Pins and Needles, Spine degeneration and the like which are still at nascent stages in India.

Though specialized doctors exist in India, they are rare and the therapists for such diseases are rarer.

Being a sufferer of more than one such disease this is my attempt to bring into the Indian sub-continent the awareness and information about all such diseases. Am joining hands with the doctors, researchers I know to post here all information about such diseases.

The aim is not only to empower but also to help discover where in India help is available which might go a long way to aid people like me, who have struggled against odds often to find that one perfect doctor or physiotherapist.

Thus, I invite you to sign up for Purple Pact and contribute to the growing knowledge repository and take the first steps towards building an aware community.
